Prof Venansius Baryamureeba the former Makerere University Vice-Chancellor has lashed out at his once political opponent Col (rtd) Dr Kizza Besigye calling him a social media doctor.

His comments follow Dr Besigye’s social media post ridiculing the former Makerere University Vice-Chancellor because of the grammatical errors in his social media posts.

“I am not a social media doctor and influencer or someone who sells social media content like you for survival. Social media scholars like you only have time to edit posts. My academic qualifications and publications are online for everyone to access them unlike some of you who can’t defend their titles…” Prof Baryamureeba stated.

In a post with what seemed to be typing errors, Baryamureeba called upon the National Council for Higher Education to regulate the habit of buying academic qualifications from fake and unrecognised institutions in Uganda.

The four time Presidential hopeful Dr. Besigye suggested that NCHE instead should start their investigations with Baryamureeba’s academic qualifications and how they were acquired.

In response, Baryamureeba challenged Besigye to find what to do instead of using other people’s personalities on social media to earn a living.

He also revealed that his academic qualifications and publications are online and open for scrutiny by the public unlike Besigye who is just a decorated social media doctor.
