Breaking: Serere MP,  Wife die in road accident on Mbale-Tirinyi Road

Serere County Member of Parliament and his wife Christine Okabe were Monday morning involved in a fatal accident that claimed their lives. Hon Bishop Patrick Okabe was driving with his wife to Kampala in Vehicle registration number UBK 995F when a Kenya truck registration number KCX 071K crashed his vehicle in a head on collision at Naboa Town Council along Mbale-Tirinyi road.

Okabe died on the spot while his wife died as she was being rushed to Mbale Regional Referral Hospital. The driver, only identified as Jacob, remains in critical condition at Mbale Regional Hospital. Joel Namisi, a junior pastor in Faith Ministries, started by Bishop Okabe said the truck lost control and crashed into Bishop Okabe’s vehicle.”

We lost him in times we needed him,” Namisi said in a tweet.

The late Bishop Okabe is also the founder of Faith FM in Mbale city and Rhema High school.

The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among has asked the nation to stand with the deceased family ‘during this difficult moment.’

“It is with great pain that I announce the passing on of our colleague,  brother and MP for Serere County Hon. Patrick Okabe and his wife in a road accident this morning. I ask us all to stand with the family during this difficult moment! May his soul RIP,”  tweeted Among.
