📌Office of the President has secured an office at Entebbe International Airport in a bid to support and boost the fight against illegal recruitment and also provide an access hub for Ugandans leaving the country for work and returning home after working in the diaspora, in order to ensure that Uganda gets out of the gray zone of human trafficking. While in a meeting, the presidential advisor on Diaspora Affairs, Amb. Abbey Walusimbi clarified that these operations will spread to all boarder points in a bid to help Ugandans receive the treatment they deserve and protect them from labour exploitation.

📌James Kizza, the UBOS’ director for Digital Solutions and Data Capability says UBOS will go digital while carrying out the forthcoming national housing and population census set for August 2023. He says they have a foolproof technology system that has an inbuilt quality control. He announced week-long activities to commemorate the Africa Statistics Day aimed at intensifying the development of statistics on the continent.

📌According to Luke Oweyisigire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Police conducted an intelligence-led operation on Friday 11th November 2022 in Mutundwe Kanaala zone after receiving information that there was a Boda boda rider in the areas of Mutundwe who was suspected to have Army camouflage uniform.

The police raided the place and arrested Rwamigana Husain, Gwandya Mika and Kwagala Anatalia and recovered a set of army uniform, ammunition and tools used to break into houses.

📌The Electricity Regulatory Authority (ERA) has introduced the Cooking Tariff known as the Declining Block Tariff for domestic users, applicable to the electricity customers served by Umeme Limited. ERA CEO, Eng. Ziria Tibalwa Waako explained that the cooking tariff charges the power units used for cooking at Shs412.0 as opposed to the regular Shs747.5 per unit. The reduced Shs412.0 charge covers from 81 to 150 units.

📌 According to Faridah Nampiima, the Spokesperson of Traffic Police, before a driver sets off, he/she must have a valid driving license for the class of the vehicle being driven.

📌One should always drive slower on murram roads and should not drive on foot paths or pedestrian areas.

📌When driving on the road, one should not forget the sequence of the mirror, signal and action.

📌Drivers should slow down and stop at zebra crossings and should not pack their vehicle at a pedestrian crossing point.

📌Drivers should not overtake in places like junctions, humps, zebra crossing, sharp bending, and other places with a prohibited sign not to overtake.

📌The State Minister for Economic Monitoring, Hon Beatrice Akello has asked the army to deploy soldiers on a disputed 2,000 hectare piece of land where Government plans to set up palm oil plantations. The land is in Nakiyaga and Birinzi villages in Bukakkata Sub- County, Masaka District. Hon Akello said her investigations revealed that the project has been delayed because the area Member of Parliament, Hon. Evans Kanyike is using the cover of fighting for squatters to pursue his personal interests.

📌Police has informed the public that 16th November 2022 will mark the first anniversary of the deadly terrorist attacks that occurred at CPS Kampala and Parliament Avenue. Joint Security Agencies warn that although there are no specific threats directed at the county at this stage, terrorists have a philosophy of conducting repeated attacks during anniversaries. It is against that background that Joint Security Agencies call upon all Ugandans and visitors in the country, to remain vigilant, and united.

🇺🇬Bouncers arrested for robbing revelers at Eddy Kenzo’s concert

📌Police has noted that during Eddy Kenzo’s concert on Saturday, some of the guards hired to guard revelers were engaged in crimes of stealing phones. According to Luke Oweyisigire, the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, the group of bouncers were identified as ‘Nako’.

They were arrested and police wants to engage with event’s organizers and vet private security companies before they are deployed during concerts.

📌The Attorney General of the republic of Uganda, Kiryowa Kiwanuka has faulted the National Unity Platform party with masterminding the humiliating attack he encountered during the presentation at a top notch United Nations Human Rights Commission session in Switzerland. Kiwanuka who represented Uganda on the international panel says NUP has embarked on sabotage agenda, aimed at painting an ugly picture of Uganda in a bid to lure away potential donors and investors.

📌The Police in Kanungu District have registered a fatal accident involving a bus belonging to Highway Coaches and motorcycle along Kanyantorogo – Butogota Road in Kanungu District. Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman ASP Elly Maate identified the dead as Cresent Niwamanya, a resident of Kalangara village in Kayonza Sub County, Kanungu District and the injured are Natamba Marvellous and Natukunda Truth who were passengers on the motorcycle all from Kalangara village.

📌The North Kigezi Diocesan sitting at St Emmanuel Kinyasano in Rukungiri District on Monday appointed Rt Rev. Nathan Mugisha Kirebete as the new Bishop’s Commissary. 📌The US announced yesterday that it is offering up to $10m for information that will help disrupt the finances of al-Shabab as the al-Qaeda-aligned group steps up attacks on government forces and civilians in Somalia. The Department of State also announced that it was increasing the reward for information on top al-Shabab leaders to $10m through its rewards for Justice programme.

📌The head of the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees said on Monday that the agency’s assets have become obsolete, and that it needs $50-80m to keep services running until the end of the year. UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) Commissioner-General Philippe Lazzarini said the agency has experienced years of austerity and needs a capital investment of $200m in the next three years to help restore depleted assets.

📌The United States has announced new sanctions against Russia targeting the military supply chain, basic to sustaining the Russian war effort in Ukraine. USA mentioned Milandr, the Russian company specialized in the manufacture of microelectronics and three other related companies with headquarters in Armenia, Taiwan and Switzerland. In total, 14 individuals and 28 entities are named, including two Swiss citizens and several companies in Switzerland and France. Any assets held in the United States will be seized and U.S. citizens are prohibited from doing business with them.

📌Thousands of academic workers at the University of California went on strike yesterday, demanding higher wages and better working conditions, reflecting the rising cost of living. The strike involved four academic-appointee bargaining units: Postdoctoral Scholars, Academic Researchers, Academic Student Employees (teaching assistants/readers/tutors), and Graduate Student Researchers.
