3 Arrested, 5 vehicles and 1 Motorbike recovered in Masaka

Police in Masaka and Mukono conducted an operation to crack down on motor vehicle robbers in which they arrested 3 suspects, and recovered five vehicles, a motorcycle, and several number plates.

SCP Enanga Fred, the Police Spokesperson in a statement made on January 10, 2024 said that the Flying Squad Unit conducted 3 separate operations.

Enanga said that on January 3, 2024, Police officers from Bukoto Police during a burial held at Butale village arrested, 28 years old Faruku Lukayamuzi, a land blocker and a resident of Kyengera town council, Wakiso.

According to Enanga, Lukyamuzi helped recover a grey Premio under registration number UAK762T they were using to do the robbery where they found several number plates of different vehicles hidden under the car seats.

Enanga added that on January 5, 2024, at around 9:00 am, the Flying Squad Unit, during an operation in Masaka also chased suspected robbers who were doing surveillance, in a motor vehicle with fake number plate UBM 858N where Edward Ddamulira, a 40-year-old, male adult, and a resident of Kivumbi zone, Nateete Kampala, was arrested.

“Edward admitted to using master keys to rob valuables from vehicles parked in busy places, hotels, markets, and vehicles parked on roadsides, within the greater Kampala area, other cities, and major towns,” Enanga added.

According to Enanga, the suspect was using a motor vehicle with a fake number UBM 858N, fixed on top of the original number plate UBA 858N.

On the other hand, the police in Mukono arrested John Wandera John commonly known as Katiginyi, a notorious car robber, from Namubiru village, for selling a suspected stolen motor vehicle under registration number UBE 973W, canter white in color, which he and his accomplices had stolen from Nsangi.

Enanga said that Isaac Wasiko, Mukyepere Patrick Gideon Kanyankole and Ivan, his accomplices are on the run.

“A motor vehicle registration UBB 071U and motorcycle registration number UFL 975H, and a Premio super with fake number plate UAW 025L were recovered,” Enanga said.

Police will continue with the operation to arrest the notorious criminal rackets in order to resolve the fight and counter criminal elements behind motor vehicle robberies and bodabodas.
