President Museveni approves 110 senior UPDF officers for retirement

A total of 110 senior officers of the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) have been approved for retirement by the President of the Republic of Uganda and also the Commander in Chief.

In a statement released on Monday, July 3, 2023 by the UPDF spokesperson, Brig. Gen. Felix Kulayigye, the officers are due for retirement by August this year, starting with the 11 generals under Batch 13A.

He said a total of 99 Senior officers from the rank of Major to Colonel are in Batch 13B.

The UPDF, 11 Generals on 13B include Gen Kale Kayihura, Lt. Gen James Nakibus Lakara, Maj. Gen Samuel Wasswa Mutesasira, Maj. Gen Joseph Arocha, Maj.Gen Davia K. Wakaalo, Brig. Gen Austine Kasatwooki Kamanyire, Brig. Gen Stephen Oluka, Brig.Gen Frank Katende Kyanbadde, Brig. Gen Emmanuel Kwihangana, Brig. Gen Wilson Muhabuzi, and Brig.Gen Ham Atwoki Kajja.

“We appreciate the services of the officers to their country while in active service and wish them good luck in their retirement,” read part of the statement.

President Yoweri Museveni will preside over the retirement ceremonies due in August.
