๐President Yoweri Museveni has said Prof Apollo Nsibambi will always be remembered for his faithfulness and diligence in the execution of his work while serving Uganda. The President hailed Nsibambi for his commitment to the issues of socio-economic transformation. The message was contained in a message delivered on his behalf by the Vice President Maj. ๐As Congolese continue to flee fighting in Eastern Congo, there are reports of an increase in uncontrolled refugee influx into Kanungu district. Sam Arineitwe, the Kanungu District Chairperson says that most refugees come through the Ishasha border, through porous borders, putting the security and health of Ugandans at risk.

๐According to the Uganda Peoples Defense Forceโs spokesperson Brig. Gen. Felix Kulaigye, the army will shoot and kill any person or gangs attacking security personnel. This came as a result of numerous attacks on security personnel where some officers have lost their lives and ammunition.
โThese gangs will be wiped out and any attempts on security forces will be met with full force,โโ Kulaigye said.

๐The Minister for Agriculture in Buganda Hajji Hamis Kakomo has called upon Kabakaโs subjects to take advantage of this rainy season to plant food that grows fast so as to abate hunger that is ravaging the kingdom. Kakomo advised them to grow coffee for cash but also food for consumption. He tipped them to embrace value addition to their products and also to learn preservation methods for storing the food during bad pricing.

๐World Health Organization (WHO) country representative Yonas Tegegn Woldemariam has said that final assessments of the clinical trial are ongoing, as Uganda prepares to start Ebola vaccine trials. Alongside Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng, they took stock of equipment that have been procured for use during the trial. Items toured included the cold chain, Personal Protective Equipment, study tablets for the research teams, and other medical material. Principal Investigator, Prof. Bruce Kirenga told the visiting teams that, โpreparedness is now at 92 per cent.โ

๐During a regional dialogue organized by Action Aid Uganda to discuss service delivery gaps which include infrastructural developments at Arua City last week, the works ministry policy analyst, Ronald Reagan Namanya said that works on the Tororo-Pakwach meter gauge railway line that had been dormant will finally resume in March next year. Namanya said the completion of the repairs on the 500-kilometre railway line is expected to boost business between the districts of Tororo, Mbale, Kumi, Soroti, Lira, Gulu, and Pakwach as traders will have a direct and cheaper alternative to transport their goods.

๐State Minister for Local Government, Hon Victoria Rusoke Businge has ordered for the immediate reallocation of stalls earlier given to absentee vendors at Tororo Central Market so that Government can realize over 27 Billion shillings loan recently used on its construction. During her visit to the market, the Minister was shocked that half of the market stalls remain empty while others were locked up yet several vendors continue to operate under makeshift structures outside the main market.

๐Though it was marred with heavy rains, the annual armed forces motocross race was successful. The race took place Sunday November 27, 2022 at the Busika race track with the Ugandan team making podium finishes. The annual race is a competition between Ugandan riders and foreign riders and all its proceeds go into appreciating the men and women in uniform.

NFCH is the second oldest health care missionary hospital to be built in Teso region in 1922, second to Mengo Hospital.

๐Police in Kamuli District are investigating circumstances under which GM sugar weigh bridge cashier was shot and injured before he was robbed of Shs95m by unknown armed thugs. The cashier, Kobil Goswami, was attacked at GM Sugar weigh bridge premises located at Luzinga central 1 Zone, Wankole Sub County, Kamuli District yesterday. Busoga North Region Police spokesperson, ASP Micheal Kasadha confirmed the robbery and shooting, saying they have so far arrested five suspects to help in the investigation.

๐Heavy rains have halted the ongoing road construction in Buikwe District especially in areas of Bukunja. The most affected road is Bukungula to Nkonkonjelu where work had begun but had to be stopped due to heavy rains. The Local Government representative, Kibuuka Godfrey says they already got the funds to work on the road from Binga Village up to Mpuku but cannot go on because of the heavy rains.

๐The East African Community has kicked off implementation of the East African Community (EAC) harmonized framework that is aimed at facilitating cross border trade of pre-packaged foods and cosmetic products. The framework promotes the use of one standard, one certification quality mark, and one conformity assessment procedure in the registration, approval, certification and clearance of pre-packaged food products and cosmetics to promote intra EAC trade among the partner states.

๐At an election rally in Dediapada in Narmada district, the Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Sunday slammed Prime Minister Narendra Modi, calling him the “leader of lies”. He also accused the BJP and its top leaders of resorting to lies to gain the sympathy of the people.
“They ask us, especially Modi ji and Shah (Amit shah) what the Congress has done in 70 years. If we have not done anything in 70 years then you wouldn’t have democracy in the country. Stop lying for sympathy, people have become smarter now. If you lie once or twice people will hear, but how many times will you lie? He’s the leader of lies…” Kharge said.
