The Court of Appeal in Kampala has redefined matrimonial property rights for spouses in Uganda. The President of the United States Joe Biden will meet his Ugandan counterpart Yoweri Museveni next month on the sidelines of the US-Africa leaders’ summit. The meeting will take place at the White House in Washington DC in December with the two leaders expected to discuss among other things, the security situation in Africa.

Authorities in Bukedea district have imposed quarantine on two sub counties due to the outbreak of foot and mouth disease in the district. The affected Sub Counties are Kamutur and Aminit, all bordering Bulambuli, Napak and Moroto districts. Movements of livestock and livestock products have been banned with immediate effect.

Due to increased vandalism of electricity infrastructure, Government has established a Multi-Sectoral Security Coordination Committee comprising of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development and its Agencies; the Ministries of Défense and Veterans Affairs; Trade, Industry and Cooperatives; Internal Affairs; the Uganda Police Force and sister security agencies to fight vandalism of electricity infrastructure.

Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has blocked Majestic Commodities, a private firm, from constructing residential apartments in a section of Nakivubo wetland to protect residents of Bugolobi from being hit by more floods.
“The purpose of this communication therefore is to serve you notice to immediately halt the backfill and construction works being undertaken on Plots 1-5 Mpanga Drive and 67,69,71,73-81 Mpanga Close, Bugolobi,” KCCA’s Deputy Executive Director Eng David Ssali Luyimbazi said. He wrote to Majestic Commodities on November 14 2022.

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, Rev. The Russian Federation has announced an increase in the number of state scholarships annually allocated to Uganda. This is part of an initiative to support more students from Uganda to pursue their studies in Russia starting this academic year. The Deputy Head of Mission in Uganda, Dr. Evgeny Kalashnikov said a decision was made to double up the state scholarship given the diplomatic ties they have enjoyed with Uganda for the last 60 years.

According to State House Anti-Corruption Unit officials, investigations have commenced on the district Administration officer and the Principle Human Resource Officer in Ntungamo over ghost health facilities and medical-workers. They explained that Government lost over Ugx3.2 billion to 32 non-existent health centres and 432 ghost health workers scam. Since 2017, Government has been funding drugs, ambulances and staff salaries for Rwamabondo Health Centre II which was falsely registered as a health centre IV.

Rema Kataike, 47, a resident of Bukelewu village, Kositi parish, Iki-Iki County in Budaka District has been buried alive after a quarry collapsed on her while she was mining murram for commercial purposes. She died 15th November 2022.

Japan’s official data on Tuesday showed that the economy has unexpectedly shrunk in the third quarter as private consumption slumped and import costs rose. Asia’s second-largest economy contracted 0.3 percent during July-September, after three consecutive quarters of growth.
