📌State House Anti-Corruption Unit shall arrest Security Committee members violating Presidential directives on land restrictions.
📌This is according to the Operational guidelines issued by Minister for Presidency, Hon. Milly Babalanda to the Residential District/ City Commissioners over the weekend.
The guidelines require 60 percent of Security committee members to verify land eviction court orders, seeking guidance and clearance from the land’s minister before eviction is implemented.

📌The Directorate of Crime Intelligence has dismantled a gang that has been targeting motorcycle riders and their passengers in three Kampala Metropolitan Area divisions of Makindye, Makindye-Ssabagabo, and Rubaga. The gang comprised robbers, those who steal boda bodas, and those that worked on getting documentation for the stolen items. The gang’s top leaders have been arrested and 78 motorcycles and 10 tones of spare parts have been recovered.

📌Makerere University students who were heading for the burial of Edgar Williams Nsumba, a final year Medicine and Surgery student who died last week were today involved in a road scuffle. The Makerere University bus of the ‘Dean of Students’ that was carrying over 70 students, drifted off the road and skipped the trench on the roadside until it rammed onto the opposite side of the road. The incident happened today morning, 31st October 2022 at Namanve, damaging only the window.

📌Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) executive director, Dorothy Kisaka has emphasized the importance of technology in service delivery in the city, calling upon people to embrace smart city, an initiative she said is the solution to most of the problems in Kampala. She made the remarks on Saturday while meeting with residents of Nsooba in Mulago, Kawempe division.
“In Kampala we are embracing technology; whatever you are doing we now need to use technology. We have come up with a number of online systems to help deliver services faster,” Kisaka said.

📌Security is investigating circumstances under which a Prison Warder Otim Jacob, 28, attached to Bugungu Prison shot to death Abwot Eunice, 25 and Namanya Edward, 29, of the same station.
According to Frank Blaine, the Uganda prisons spokesperson commissioner, the incident occurred today morning, 31st October 2022, when Otim Jacob signed a gun to go for general duties only to head to the Sentry where Abwot Eunice was working and shot her dead instantly. On hearing the sound of the Gun, the second guard, Namanya Edward came to establish the cause of shooting and he was also shot dead. Otim tried to commit suicide but failed.

📌 ASP Faridah Nampiima, the Traffic Police spokesperson revealed that a total of 257 people have been killed between 1st and 29th October 2022 in road accidents. She added that Traffic police has registered 1378 accidents, of which 227 were fatal, 705 serious and 446 minor. They registered 1232 victims and 257 of these died and 975 registered injuries. She attributed reckless driving which includes disregard for the rules on the road, driving without proper cautions and over speeding to be the leading causes of accidents on Ugandan roads.

📌A S.2 Student from Soroti SS who disappeared on Saturday, 29th October 2022 has been discovered dead in Soroti Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary. Gabriel Epuru, resident of Orwadai Cell was last seen in the evening hours of Saturday in Club Cloud 9 that hosted Kampala based B2C artists among others. His body was discovered today 31st October 2022 after the hospital authorities alerted the searching relatives that there was an unidentified body of a young man in the mortuary.

📌 Julius Chelimo, the LCV Chairman in Bukwo district has been arrested by police for allegedly defiling and trafficking a 16 year old girl studying in one of the Secondary Schools in Kapchorwa. He was arrested at his hideout in Mbale City yesterday. Police spokesperson Fred Enanga confirmed the arrest noting that the suspect has been on the wanted list for aggravated defilement and trafficking of persons.

📌Selvest Masereka, the Kingdom Minister for lands hailed government for it’s interventions in protecting Kingdom’s land over the weekend. He said this during a meeting prior to boundaries opening of Obusinga Kingdom land in upper Base camp, Kasese Municipality.

📌Workers have broken out of Apple’s largest iPhone assembly factory in China after the COVID outbreak, that forced staff to lockdown at the workplace. Video shared online showed about 10 people jumping a fence outside the plant, owned by manufacturer Foxconn, in the central city of Zhengzhou. The city of about 10 million people was partially locked down as China continues to use strict lockdown measures to deal with Covid virus. Foxconn, which acts as a supplier to US-based Apple, has hundreds of thousands of workers at its Zhengzhou complex and has not provided an official count of how many are infected.
