📌Private tourism industry leaders have slammed global media stories implying that Uganda is failing to curb the Ebola pandemic. Many claim that this type of reporting has resulted in cancellations in the sector, resulting in revenue loss.
According to Herbert Byaruhanga, president of the Uganda Tourism Association, the sector has had a number of cancellations since the Ebola outbreak was declared last month.

📌The Judiciary has redeployed 10 officers at the rank of Chief Magistrate and Magistrate Grade One, in a move explained as a reshuffle. According to a statement from the Judiciary communications unit, the Chief Registrar, Sarah Langa Siu, the changes are part of improving efficiency in the administration of justice in the courts. The two Chief Magistrates, Principal Magistrate Grade One, Senior Magistrate Grade One and eight Magistrates Grade One, are supposed to report to their new duty stations on 1st November 2022.

📌 A Police officer attached to Kawempe Police station, Sam Bazibu was killed in a road crash after he was run over by a Fuso Truck in the wee hours of today morning. Assistant Superintendent of Police, Luke Owoyesigyire, the deputy Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police spokesperson stated that the deceased Policeman was knocked alongside his colleague Brenda Nabifo at Bwaise and the driver just sped off until he was intercepted by Police in Natete.

📌The Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) detected another case of impersonation in the ongoing Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examination. An examination supervisor at St Francis secondary school in Kampala’s Kawempe division was shocked to see a male candidate having a female name ‘Rebecca’ on his scripts. According to Jennifer Kalule, the UNEB spokesperson, the supervisor smelt a rat, but first stayed quiet and looked around only to find that there was a female candidate who had not yet filled out her name on the script and when the supervisor requested her to write her name, she instead wrote a male’s name. On interrogation, it was discovered that Rebecca Munyezi, 30, had procured the services of a one Asuman Kidawuli to write her UNEB exams at a fee of Shs2.5m.

📌UK based Ugandan businesswoman, Emolyne Ramlov has donated a fully equipped ambulance to aid Whisper’s Magical Children’s Hospital in Jinja in carrying out emergency response services. The $73,000 (Shs270 million) cheque for the ambulance was handed over to Veronika Cejpkova, the founder of Whisper’s Magical Children’s Hospital during a fundraising dinner held at Protea Hotel in Kampala under the theme “Make A Difference, Save A Life.”

📌 In a 28th October 2022 circular released by the Ministry of Education Permanent Secretary, with immediate effect, it suspended all school visitation days and leavers parties until the end of the current school term to strengthen the existing infection prevention measures at school level. According to the ministry, Learners in boarding institutions should also be discouraged from making non-essential trips out of the school.

📌Uganda is set to have its first Satellite launched into Space this year, tentatively on 6th November 2022. The PearlAfrica Sat-1 will be launched by US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) from the Mid-Atlantic Regional Spaceport at Wallops Flight Facility, Wallops Island in Virginia. The program began way back in 2020 under the Joint Global Multi-Nation BIRDS Satellite project, a cross-border interdisciplinary Satellite project for non-space faring countries initiated by Kyusu Institute of Technology in Japan.

📌The Ministry of Health commissioned a newly constructed ETU in Mubende district, to create more space for handling patients on admission. The new unit is located at the Works yard in Mubende town, accommodating 60 patients. Health Minister Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng said that the new unit will start operations on Monday to relieve the pressure on the 42-bed capacity unit at the Mubende Regional Referral Hospital.

📌 According to Amlan Tumusiime, the Kikuube Resident District Commissioner (RDC), the murder of Julius Irumba, 43, chairperson LCI of Musaijamukuru village, Buhimba sub-county, in Kikuube district is linked to a land dispute. Tumusiime alleges that a day before Irumba was killed, he had led a group of people from Musaijamukuru village to the RDC’s office protesting the emergence of a fraudulently acquired title in their village.

📌Masindi Grade One Magistrates Court on Friday adjourned hearing of the case in which Masindi based journalist; Aseera Gerald was shot dead in June this year by Simon Ekou, a 38-years-old private security guard working with Blue whale security company Ltd. The Magistrate, Selsa Biwaga adjourned the case hearing to 18th November 2022.

📌About 40 local developers in Nyamwamba Division in Kasese Municipality were dragged to court for building out of plan. Lillian Kisembo, the Assistant Senior town clerk for Nyamwamba Division said that the legal battle between her office and the local developers was forced by the local residents without physical plans, putting up structures on road reserves, drainage channels and utility service lanes.

His arrest on Sunday happened after police had received multiple accusations from parents, pinning him of defiling and impregnating pupils at the same school.

The decision was reached yesterday during the disease surveillance Taskforce meeting, that was chaired by Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Godfrey Nyakahuma in the Rukiiko council hall at Kabale district headquarters, to devise means and improve on surveillance and preparedness in the wake of the increase in Ebola cases in Kampala.

📌 According to Russian officials, Ukraine has carried out a “massive” drone attack on the Black Sea Fleet in the Crimean port city of Sevastopol, damaging one warship.
