πThe Uganda National Examinations Board-UNEB has raised concern about the increasing use of slang during examinations. Dan Odongo, the Executive Director of UNEB said the use of slang is one of the factors affecting the performance of learners not only in English and Literature but also in other subjects that require constructing sentences.Β
πΊπ¬ Police recovers stolen gun in Mayuge Town Council
πThe Police in Busoga East on Thursday recovered a gun that was reportedly stolen from private security guards of Wolves Security Group, in Mayuge Town Council. Bashir Siriba, the Mayuge District Police Commander said the gun, loaded with 10 rounds of live ammunition, was recovered hidden in a wooden box and dumped in a bushy area, along Mulumba road, in Mayuge Town Council.

πΊπ¬ EAC to develop Courts to fight wildlife trafficking
πEast African member states have concluded a four day meeting in Entebbe, adopting a proposal to develop special wildlife courts in the region. According to Robert Mande, the Tanzanian taskforce member, the move is intended to deal with illegal trafficking of wildlife, especially to Asian countries. Under the proposals, countries are supposed to designate specialised judicial officers to specifically handle cases for quick investigation and prosecution.

πThe Agency for Research and Corporation in Development (ACORD) has donated Mama kits, blankets and soap to expecting mothers in Buluganya Health Centre III. A kit includes a bucket, washing soap, baby clothes, t-shirt for the mother, one wrapper/kitenge, a pair of slippers and a mosquito net.

πDoctors at Mubende General Hospital have raised alarm over the increasing number of deaths caused by dog-borne disease known as Rabies. According to Dr. Ronic Kamugisha ,a doctor at Mubende General Hospital four people died last month in Mubende. He said that all patients that were bitten by rabid dogs have died.

πConstruction of the third phase of the surgical complex at Mbale Regional Referral Hospital will be undertaken by the Uganda Peoples Defense Forces-UPDF engineering brigade after the contract of Global Network Construction Company Limited was terminated. Patrick Akomera, the Principal Hospital Administrator says, they are developing designs for the complex from the consultant that will work and guide the engineering brigade. He adds that when completed, the surgical complex will address the shortage of space in the hospital.

π KENYA: Govβt describes US, UK terror alerts as ‘completely unfortunate’
πThe Kenyan Government has described as βcompletely unfortunateβ, the terror alerts issued by the United States and the United Kingdom, but urged Kenyans to remain vigilant even as it celebrated the countryβs success in battling Al-Shabaab. Kenyaβs Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Singβoei said the country was recording major success in battling the Al-Qaeda-linked terror group.
π South Sudan accuses Kenya of border encroachment
πSouth Sudan has accused Kenya of trying to steal disputed territory along their border after communal clashes that left at least eight people dead. Parliamentarians are piling pressure on President Salva Kiir to recall the house from recess so they can discuss the simmering border dispute. Fighting occurred in the area, in and around the town of Nakodok, a few miles from an oil field on the Kenyan side of the border.
π South Sudan abdons US dollar for home currency
πSouth Sudanβs Government has suspended the use of the US Dollar and instead directed that all transactions be executed in the local currency, the South Sudanese pound (SSP), in a move feared to stifle economic activity in the war-ravaged economy.
