📌The Permanent Secretary to the office of the Prime Minister, Keith Muhakanizi stated that government is to conduct assessment on local government’s service delivery and performance. The assessment will be conducted by contracted independent firms to undertake the annual local government management of service delivery, performance assessment for FY2021/22.  The assessors will help in the validating results of the lower local government and the health facilities assessment. This exercise is set to start on 31st October 2022.

📌The Bishop of Bukedi diocese, Rev. Samuel George Bogere Egesa, strongly warned candidates that started their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations today to desist from the habit of exam malpractice and visiting witchdoctors to pass the exams.  He cautioned the candidates not to be tempted to carry anything into the examination rooms but rather put their trust in the Lord. Egesa adviced parents to stop the habit of taking their children to witch doctors purportedly for blessings which may in turn become misery.

📌Bishop Egesa made the remarks in his sermon during the blessing of 232 Senior Four candidates and 42 Senior Six candidates of Asinge Secondary School, Kwapa.

📌Senior Four candidates of Hill View College Bulangira in Kibuku district have been cautioned against failing to follow examination instructions. During a briefing of candidates held at the school’s multipurpose hall, head teacher, Godfrey Mawangwe urged the candidates to adhere to instructions saying their excellence in the examinations is dependent on their comprehension of the instructions, which most of them ignore.

📌The Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Monica Musenero stated that government has started the process of investing massively in electric public transport means including vehicles and motorbikes to help drive down emissions. “We have come up with a plan and an inter-ministerial taskforce that is working on the roadmap to make Uganda turn to electric Boda Bodas, buses for public transport and the entire country will be on e-mobility. We have started with the issue of addressing mass transport not only to address pollution but also traffic congestion,” Musenero said.

📌 Hon. Kazibwe Bashir Mbaziira, the National Unity Platform party lawmaker for Kawempe North appended his signature on the report backing Kampala Central MP Muhammad Nsereko, as he passed his computer misuse bill 2022 that seeks to criminalize and penalize social media users who criticize and attack government. According to Kazibwe, the youth have vulgarized free speech and therefore it is right for government to take up extra measures and extinguish the already burning flame on social media.

📌Kazibwe cites himself as a regular victim of cyber bullying from social media users, who have made life very difficult for him as he legislates for his constituency.

📌Uganda’s Stella Chesang has scooped bronze and set a new national record at the New Delhi Half Marathon. Returning for the first time following the two-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Chesang posted 1:08: 11 falling behind Kenya’s Irine Cheptai who won the women’s elite races clocking a personal best of 1:06:42.

📌 The UNEB executive director, Mr. Daniel Odongo stated that as the Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams kick off, they require special permission from police to facilitate invigilators in Mubende and Kassanda districts, following the presidential directive to lock down the two Ebola epicenters.  “President Museveni said schools should remain open, hence the examinations will take place in those districts as earlier planned. However, we shall need special permission for clearing our vehicles transporting examination materials and Uneb officials,” Odongo said.

📌According to the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Mathias Lutwama, Kiboga District has formulated other measures to curb Ebola disease outbreak. He noted that no resident of kiboga is permitted to cross to the spotted districts of Kasanda and Mubende noting that a joint security force has have been put in place to monitor all district boarders. Residents were cautioned to cooperate with health teams and security in all mitigation efforts put in place.

📌Mr. Lutwama further noted that these measures were agreed upon by the district leaders therefore he expects maximum cooperation as far as fighting Ebola is concerned

📌According to Buhwenju local leaders, government through rural electrification project is installing and extending electricity to rural villages of Marinda, Engaju parish, Kiruruma and Kijumbura parish. The residents appreciated the government and said that this will improve the performance of their children at school as well as increased productivity of home business.

📌According to the District Commercial Officer, government has kick started the verification of all the beneficiaries and the suppliers of coffee seedlings. This follows Rt. Hon. 📌H.E Jessica Alupo, the Vice President donated 710 Iron sheets as relief to 12 primary and secondary schools across the district, that were affected by heavy winds. The VPs political assistant, Okello revealed that other relief items included 40 tons of maize flour, 20 tons of Beans and 2000 spades to support truck loaders and drivers in Katakwi town.

📌Kadimukoli Sub County leaders said government is set to construct Kadimukoli Health Center III in Kadimukoli Sub County. They revealed this at Kadimukoli Primary School during a fundraising ceremony aimed at raising Ugx10.2 million to buy land that will accommodate the health Centre.

📌Minister of State for Northern Uganda Affairs delivered 44 heifers that the President donated to religious institutions, Alur kingdom officials and district chairpersons in Pakwach, Nebbi and Zombo. The donation was a pledge made by the president to improve institutional and household income in the region.

📌Lwengo District MP Hon. Namujju Cissy confirmed that government through the Office of the Prime Minister donated food relief to vulnerable households in Lwengo Sub County. She stated that the items received include 5000Kgs of maize flour and 1000Kgs of beans, distributed to 350 vulnerable households.

📌Chris Kagayano, the LCIII chairperson Bwambara Sub County in Rukungiri district revealed that parents have largely contributed to school dropout cases in the area. “Some parents have deliberately kept their children away from school because they target some good money from them especially the girl child after they marry her off,” Kagayano said.

📌During an interview on Saturday, SP. Musa Tibakirana, the Rukungiri District Police Commander said that they register between five to seven juvenile cases every day and they are all linked to domestic violence. SP. Tibakirana revealed that most of the parents and guardians involved in domestic violence neglect their children which later results into involvements in criminalities such as robbery, alcoholism, and drug abuse among other cases.
