President Museveni preached his gospel of wealth creation to the people of the beautiful land of Sebei. The president held an interactive meeting with the leaders at Chelel Village,Tuban parish in Kapchorwa district.

The president reemphasized his four acre land model and encouraged farmers to replace maize growing with wheat. He told them;
“…in Sebei, I have discovered the growing of maize. This is a cold area,it takes maize up to nine months to mature. You can grow other crops like wheat which fetch you better money in a short time.”

The president discouraged the practice of land fragmentation that continues to disturb Ugandans living in high altitude areas like Kigezi and Sebei. The president said;
“Do not fragment your land. The idea of sharing land as an inheritance should stop. Families should jointly own land and only share proceeds from the land on an agreed share holding formula.”

The president called on the people of Sebei to emulate the great French scientist Louis Pasteur remembered for his remarkable discoveries of the principles of vaccination and pasteurization. He told his congregation;
“All these happened because someone was able to understand a phenomenon. Bacteria had always been there,but no one had scientifically known about its existence.”

The president called on the people of Sebei to understand development in a similar fashion like the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party.
“Similarly with development, for it to occur, it must be understood.

You are only able to address an issue depending on how you have appreciated it. That is where the NRM party differs with other parties, because we taken time to study Uganda’s problems and offered correct solutions.”

The president praised government programmes like immunization that have contributed to the rapid population growth essential for nation building. He said;
“Take the case of our insistence on stabilizing the country and other interventions like free immunization for children. This has ensured our population grows rapidly. In 1979,when I was minister of defence,I visited Sebei, which had just about 20,000 people. Today,it’s population is about 500,000.”

The operation wealth creation program aims at development moving in line with improvement of house hold incomes as emphasized by the president;
“… development is not an end in itself. It should lead to wealth creation. That is why I embarked on this campaign. We are doing well in terms of development as a country, but must improve on the wealth creation front. You the leaders must be wealth creation agents.”

The president called on the people of Sebei to read his gospel;
“I have compiled literature around this campaign and the four acre model. I urge you to read it and share with your communities. The primary message is that we must abandon subsistence farming and upgrade to commercial agriculture.”

The president is expected to address a rally at Kemet subcounty in Bukwo district before conducting a radio address in Kapchorwa. The president has already preached the operation wealth creation gospel in Bunyoro,Teso,Karamoja and Masaka.
