The Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) has been asked to refund Shs144 million to customers following rejected passport applications.
During the weekly security briefing at the Uganda Police headquarters in Naguru, Mr. Simon Mundeyi, the spokesperson for the Directorate of Immigration and Citizen Affairs, explained that 288 applicants will have their money refunded from the tax body after they applied for the wrong passports.
He said they rejected the applications because the applicants had applied for diplomatic passports, but their statuses didn’t permit them to obtain the said passports.
“I urge all those who paid for the passports to reach out to the Uganda Revenue Authority to process their refunds of shillings 500,000 paid per passport because their applicants do not qualify for them,” he said.
