UPDF Strikes ADF Rebel Bases In Eastern DRC

Uganda Peoples Defense Forces (UPDF) says today Tuesday morning it conducted air strikes on the Allied Democratic Forces bases in the Beni, Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.

According to the brief statement posted on the army and defense spokesperson official twitter handle, UPDF and FARDC conducted joint air and artillery strikes against the ADF camps.

These operations are coordinated jointly with the “allies”, which are the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC), says Army and defense spokesperson Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso.

The army did not provide more details of the air raids but security sources say it was devastating.

The ADF terrorists have using Eastern Congo for recruiting, training, and launching their attacks on Uganda and the region at large.

The terrorist group is now officially affiliated with the Islamic State terror group that claimed twin blasts in Kampala recently.

Following the most recent attacks on Uganda, President Museveni said he was working with the neighbors to deal with those (terrorists) operating from outside.

“They have exposed themselves when we are more ready for urban terrorism. They will perish,” Mr. Museveni said in a statement.

According to Kivu security tracker an organization that tracks armed conflict in DRC’s Kivu region, there are 13245 victims Since 2017 out of 4728 incidents with 6982 kidnappings/Abductions and 6061violent deaths since 2017.
