UNRA to Start 8 Km Road Maintenance on Kireka-Namugongo Road

The Uganda National Roads Authority(UNRA) has announced the commencement of road maintenance works along the Kireka-Namugongo covering an 8-kilometre stretch.

According to UNRA in collaboration with Uganda Traffic Police and Sterling Civil Engineering Ltd all road Users are informed of the maintenance works that will commence on Saturday, March 16, 2024, and are expected to be completed by the end of May 2024.

UNRA in a statement released March 12,2024 noted that the physical road works will entail resurfacing of the main carriageway and installation of road safety facilities.

“During the maintenance period traffic flow will be restricted to one lane while the other lane undergoes repair,” the statement reads in part.

Additionally, temporary road closures will occur during the asphalt concrete overlay operations, with traffic diverted to nearby routes.

” The traffic police and construction safety team will be present on-site to assist road Users at all times,” added the statement.

According to UNRA road maintenance aims at enhancing the road surface for better condition and safety ensuring excellent satisfaction and comfort for all road users.
