The Embassy of Uganda in Khartoum joined the rest of the African Missions in Sudan to participate in a Business Conference. The Conference was held at Al Salam Rotana Hotel under the theme; “How to Invest in Africa.”
The Conference that happened on Saturday November 12th 2022, was attended by both local and international Business owners, Entrepreneurs, and Representatives from the different African diplomatic missions in Sudan, Public and Private sectors, academia among others.
Uganda’s Embassy in Khartoum was represented by Dickson Ogwang, the Head of Chancery who delivered Ambassador Dr. Rashid Yahaya Ssemunddu’s speech. The speech highlighted the opportunities for Trade, Investment and Tourism in Uganda.
“Africa should utilize the favorable investment climate and Business facilitation incentives that exist in Uganda. We have land offers, tax holidays and tax exemptions for certain products,” Ogwanga said.
According to Ogwang, the services are available for all qualifying investors through the different government ministries, departments and agencies.
He also encouraged Africans to utilize our diversity and promote inter-regional trade. He also emphasized on the need to foster the manufacturing sector so as to reduce on the exportation of raw materials.
“Africans should resist the temptation of exporting raw materials from outside Africa but promote the manufacturing sector to process our huge Natural Resources and Agricultural products to attract better prices at both Domestic and International markets,” he said.
Participating Embassies at the Conference included Uganda, Ethiopia, Chad, Djibouti, Kenya, Niger, Nigeria, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Mali, Democratic Republic of Congo and South Africa among others.
