The Vice President of Uganda, Jessica Alupo has confirmed Uganda’s pledge to contribute $3 Million towards the Global Fund in fight against epidemics.
Jessica Alupo who represented President Museveni made the pledge at the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday 21st September 2022.
Alupo in her speech, said that a number of significant strides has been achieved through the funds citing fights against HIV/AIDS, Malaria, TB and the recently, Covid-19.
“Over the years, the fund has helped us realize significant strides in the fight against HIV/AIDS, Malaria, TB and most recently, Covid-19,” she said.
The Global Fund is hoping that World Nations will manage to raise the $18billion, which it considers a minimum towards ending HIV, TB, Malaria and Covid-19.
“Uganda is happy to make its contribution,” she added.
The organization is currently undertaking its 7th replenishment exercise where it hopes to raise up to $18billion.
