Uganda Sevens Open African Games Campaign with Wins Over Zimbabwe & Tunisia

Uganda Rugby Sevens secured two wins on the opening day of the Sevens tournament at the 13th African Game at the University of Ghana Rugby Stadium on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

Uganda defeated Zimbabwe 14:00 in the opening match, with Adrian Kasito scoring the first try of the match in the second half from a turnover earned by Captain Ian Munyani, then Philip Wokorach converted easily in front of the uprights.

The team scored another try in the final play through Philip Wokorach and Timothy Kisiga converted to give Uganda a 14-00 victory.

In the second match of the day Uganda took on Tunisia at the same venue beating their 48:00. During that match, Uganda scored four tries in the first half, thanks to Adrian Kasito (2), Philip Wokorach, and Aaron Ofoyrwoth. Team Uganda led 26-00 at halftime thanks to Wokorach’s three-point conversions.

After the halftime break, Uganda scored four more tries, thanks to Timothy Kisiga, Nobert Okeny (2), and Desire Ayera. Kisiga converted one attempt making the final point at 48:00

Uganda Rugby team will play against Burkina Faso and Ghana on Day Two and the Lady Crane will also start their quest for gold at the tournament.
