Uganda records massive tourists influx after relaxing Covid-19 restrictions

Uganda has continued to record massive influx of tourists within the recent months after relaxing COVID-19 restrictions.

The Ministry of health on the directive of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, relaxed Covid-19 restrictions after it emerged that quite a large number of people had been vaccinated against the Pandemic.

Statistics from the Civil Aviation Authority revealed that, several tourists entered Uganda from June, and its expected to continue until end of October.

CAA says the majority of tourists were from Germany, Britain and Spain in the previous months.

It’s confirmed that some 1.2M international passengers have gone through Entebbe International Airport in the financial year 2021/2022 compared to 2018/2019 with only 580,238 passengers.

Vianney Luggya, the CAA spokesperson says the increasing number of tourists and other passengers transiting through Entebbe International Airport is promising.

“If we compare the financial year 2021/2022 to 2018/2019, the recovery percentage is at 71.9, which to us is a big improvement given the fact that in 2020 the Country’s tourism earnings dropped by 73% due to the pandemic, ”He said.
