The Embassy of Uganda in Khartoum, Sudan has participated in the 2022 Cancer Run. The run was also joined by hundreds of Ugandans living in Sudan.
Majority of the Diaspora participated on Saturday 3rd while a few joined on Sunday 4th, being a normal working day in Sudan.
The event that was sponsored by the Mission was also graced by the Chargé D’affaire- CDA, Ambassador Dickson Ogwang who encouraged Ugandans and others to embrace Rotary activities.
According CDA Amb.Ogwang, this was the first time Uganda Mission in Khartoum is taking part in the Cancer Run with the mandate of MOFA Administration.
He encouraged participants to make it an annual routine as we commit ourselves in mobilizing the world about Cancer and raising funds for the cause.
“While we run, we remember colleagues long taken to glory by cancer, raise funds to care for cancer patients and seek necessary support to lighten the burden of struggling with cancer,” Amb.Ogwang noted.
Amb.Ogwang noted that we should be careful with our lifestyle in order to avoid and minimize the chances of being affected by cancer and other Non-Communicable Diseases.
He encouraged participants to exercise regularly, mind their diet and ensure frequent medical checkups as a personal discipline.
The CDA appreciated the positive turn up despite the short notice and the mobilization done following the instructions from Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters through Minister, Gen. Abubakar Jeje Odongo.
In attendance were the Mission members of staff and Ugandans in diaspora who unanimously committed to a regular joint exercise to improve physical fitness and social cohesion among members.
This is to be a monthly joint physical exercise at the auspices of the Mission.
