The indomitable Uganda cranes broke the hearts of Senegalese in the 33rd minutes as Skipper Milton Karisa rolled  a magic ball into the net of Senegal which shocked  everyone at the Annaba stadium.

The win of 1-0 over Senegal   elevates Uganda Cranes to the apex of group B with four points which is enough height for the indomitable cranes to star in the quarterfinals of the seventh edition of the CHAN tournament in Algeria.

A few minutes after the game the  Uganda Cranes head coach Micho revealed that  himself and the team are determined to demolish whoever will stand in their way  because their stay in Algeria is a product of hard work and support of Ugandans.

“We came as a product of hard work and the support of Ugandans, the FUFA efforts and the right decisions of the Government of Uganda and therefore we have to analyze our game as we prepare to triumph over Ivory Coast on Sunday,” Micho said.

The determination of the Cranes was evidenced when they broke the ice in the cold weather to penetrate the guard of the lions (Senegalese)   to prove that they can move far even in the worst circumstances.

The lovers of the beautiful game have flooded with tears of joy as they bombard twitter with congratulatory messages to the darling team, the Uganda cranes.

Most of the messages lifted the hands of Uganda’s goalkeepers Alionzi Nafian who saved Cheikh Sidibe’s penalty and the Cranes had a penalty decision overturned by VAR after Karisa was shoved in the area.

“We took the game to the Senegalese without fear and it paid dividends .The boys endured the extremely cold weather with temperatures dropping as low as 8 degrees and still emerged victors. That is the spirit,” Minster Peter Ogwang said.

The deputy speaker Thomas Tayebwa applauded the team and encouraged them to dive deeper into the spirit of unity and hard work to secure more victories.

“Well done boys on the well-deserved victory against Senegal. To Alionzi, I see potential Onyango behind the posts,” he said.

The Uganda Crane’s victory came on a night MTN announced their return as the official sponsor of the national team for the next five years.

The team is expected to play Ivory Coast on Sunday 22nd January 2023 and the former will qualify for the quarterfinals in case it wins or makes a draw with the latter.
