Uganda committed to strengthen existing cordial bilateral relations with S.Africa

The Uganda government has reaffirmed total commitment to continued maintaining, and strengthening the existing bilateral relations with South Africa.

This is aimed at increasing trade and other commercial relations between the two countries.

Gen Jeje Abubakhar Odongo, the Minister of Foreign Affairs says Uganda is committed to continue deepening cooperation with South Africa to boost the country’s economy.

According to Minister Odongo, Uganda and South Africa enjoys excellent fraternal relations and strong historical bonds of friendship and solidarity firmly anchored on the principle of Pan Africanism the minister said.

Uganda hosted the 2nd Session of the Joint Commission of Cooperation with the Republic of South Africa from 7th – 12th July 2022 at the Serena Conference Center in Kampala.

The Joint Commission of Cooperation deliberated on enhancing bilateral cooperation between both countries in prioritizing diplomatic, political, trade and Investment.

Others include health, transport, agriculture, Education and Technical skills development, Immigration, Energy and many more, according to the foreign minister.

Diplomatic relations between both countries were established on 24th June, 1994.
