Uganda Bags Two more Medals at the Islamic Games in Turkey

Ugandan swimmer Husnah Kukundakwe and athlete Chebet Abel have won silver and bronze medals after dominating the Islamic games in Konya – Turkey.

These follow the 4 medals Kukundakwe won in the first stanza of the games in which two were gold and the other two silver which make the sum of 5 medals.

The Pearl of Africa currently has   7 medals including the silver medal Ugandan athlete Chebet got from the 10,000m and Bronze medal he won in the 5000m on 8th august 2022.

The victory has positioned Uganda in the 8th position on the medal tally.

The Ugandan team is expected to perform better as it looks forward to grabbing more medals in the remaining games.

According to sources, the team is set to participate in games such as wrestling, athletics, archery, judo, and road cycling among others.

The games which started on Tuesday 9th August 2022, will end on Thursday 18th of this very month with the handball competition.

The Islamic Solidarity Games is a multi-disciplinary sports organization under the supervision of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation, whose members are the countries that have joined the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
