Two Suspects Arraigned Over PDM Funds Mismanagement In Bududa

Two individuals have been brought before a court in Bududa District on charges related to the mishandling of funds from the Parish Development Model (PDM) program.

The two suspects have been identified as Wakoko Kassim, the Parish Chief of Bunandutu, and Nakhaima Francis.

According to the State House Anti-Corruption Unit (SHACU), Wakoko Kassim, the Parish Chief of Bunandutu, is accused of obtaining money under false pretense.

It is alleged that he defrauded millions of shillings from several beneficiaries of the Bunandutu PDM SACCO by claiming that the funds were needed for processing their money

Nakhaima Francis, another suspect, has been charged with making false claims as a public servant.

It is alleged that the suspect and others, still at large, were expected to file accurate returns and statements regarding the Bumakita PDM SACCO funds but instead made false entries by registering individuals who were not beneficiaries of the same parish.

Both suspects have been remanded until November 5, 2024, as investigations into the matter continue.

The arraignment of these individuals highlights the government’s commitment to combating corruption and ensuring the effective implementation of the PDM program.

The PDM pillars include financial inclusion, infrastructure, and economic services, agricultural value chain development, parish-based management information systems, social services, community mobilization, mindset change, governance, and administration.
