The Grade One Magistrate Allan Nyakana has sentenced Raphael Bwambale and Mikidad Muhindo to two years in jail over possessing a human skull in Kasese Municipality.

The two aged 40 and 50 years respectively were arrested following a night patrol led by the local police and area leaders after rampant complaints of robbery in areas of  Nyamwamba West Cell in October 2022.

According to the Magistrate Court ruling, both pleaded guilty to the charge of unlawful possession of a human skull yesterday 31st Jan 2023.

“The sentence will serve as a deterrent to others from humiliating the dead,” Nyakana said.

According to sources, the two have been habitual thugs and residents think they have been using the skull as spiritual protection against Police.

A section of the locals at the cell felt unhappy about the ruling insisting the two would have mentioned what they were using the skulls for.
