Two Arrested for Human Trafficking and Sexual Exploitation

Two individuals have been detained by the Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) North and Kawempe Division for their involvement in human trafficking for sexual exploitation.

During the weekly security briefing at Police Headquarters in Naguru, Kampala, SCP Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, revealed the identities of the suspects as Natalu Brenda, 21 years old, and Sewamala Lawrence, 27 years old. They were arrested in Erisa zone, Kyebando parish, in Kampala Division.

“They had recruited over 10 female victims from whom they were recording pornographic videos and live sex performances for their clients,” Enanga said.

The police recovered three computers, Wi-Fi gadgets, and other electronic devices, including a dildo that were used by the suspects for recording these explicit videos.

Enanga added that the duo is currently being charged, and the search is ongoing for their overall boss, Allen Arinaitwa, aged 30, who is currently at large.

According to the 2023 report on trafficking in persons, out of the 1,200 reported incidents of human trafficking, 526 cases involved exploitation within Uganda, while 63 cases involved exploitation abroad. The remaining incidents were unspecified forms of trafficking.
