Top NUP hooligans, drug dealers  behind Kamwokya Councilor murder

Preliminary investigations into the gruesome murder of late James Kakooza, the Kamwokya Councilor for Church Zone has been linked to National Unity Platform -NUP party supporters who known drug dealers.  

Kakooza was hit by two people riding on a motorcycle around Centenary Park while on a morning workout on Saturday.  

The deceased was also a renowned NRM cadre  had been fighting crime within Kamwokya  Division, a move that attracted to him many enemies  mainly from the drugs trafficking network manned by NUP stalwarts.

Preliminary investigation into his murder has revealed that the deceased’s murder could have been masterminded and executed  by NUP sympathisers  within Kamwokya are known drug dealers who  were threatened by his commitment to fight crime.

Police has been able to arrest one person with the help of CCTV cameras.

The deceased had in the recent past been engaging in direct mobilisation against criminal gang network within the area but his effort hit a setback since most of the suspected drug dealers are known NUP supporters.

Sources within Intelligence that preferred anonymity because of the sensitivity of the incident said, few days ago, a group of marijuana  dealers within Kamwokya who are known NUP mobilizers held a meeting in which they resolved to deal with Kakooza for interfering with their operations within the area.

The source revved that the deceased never bothered to report the threat to police and took it lightly as a usual threat since they had previously been  threatening his life.

Kakooza’s body which was found lying in a pool of blood on the road has been taken to the city mortuary at Mulago for postmortem as investigations continue.
