Three officials of Parish Development Model Savings and Credit Cooperatives in Iganga district have been sent on remand over alleged fraud.

The officials were arrested by the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) on Tuesday, August 6th, 2024.

They are Emmanuel Ngobi (chairperson), Kabenene Isma (vice chairperson), and Kasisa Wilberforce (secretary), all leaders of Kiwani PDM SACCO in Bulolo Village, Namutumba District.

A source revealed that the suspects allegedly defrauded several PDM beneficiaries in September 2023 by demanding money to facilitate the processing of their PDM funds.

On Tuesday, they were charged with obtaining money by false presence by the Iganga Chief Magistrate Court.

The trio will reappear in court on August 27, 2024, as investigations into the matter continue.

This arrest highlights the government’s commitment to combating corruption and ensuring that funds meant for development reach the intended beneficiaries.
