Thomas Sweswe Langu: The Player Whose Body Never Touched the Ball for 90 Minutes

When you watch  football players running up and down, making signals to each other, calling one another for the pass and the ululations from the supporters, it’s impossible to think that some players spend all the 90 minutes without touching the ball.

It is a surprise that Thomas Sweswe Langu, a defender who played for Manning Rangers, Wits, Kaizer Chiefs and Black Leopards in the South African league holds such a record.

During the Kaizer Chiefs Game FC match the right footed Thomas played an entire 90 minutes without touching the ball.

Thomas Langu Sweswe was born on 9 August 1981 in Gweru and retired from the game of soccer at 35 years of age in 2017.

The last club he played for was ZPC Kariba of Zimbabwe.

Such an incident also happened on the European Continent when former Arsenal player and then Chelsea striker, Olivier Jonathan Giroud played for entire 90 minutes without touching the ball.

It’s also remembered that the Frenchman Giroud played 546 minutes of action without a single shot on target back in the 2018 World Cup campaign in Russia.

These are the strangest records that have been set in the football history.
