Step Aside, You Have Done Enough Damage – Niringiye to Kadaga

Bishop Zac Niringiye has called on Speaker Rebecca Kadaga to step down next year and not offer her self for reelection over her shambolic handling of the Covid-19 crisis saying that there is time for everyone to step aside.

Kadaga has been in Parliament for over 30 years on affirmative action vote as woman mp for kamuli district a position put in place to allow women participation in politics.

Kadaga believes that the 20 million given to each MP will help them compete equally with political rivals who have been moving around in constituencies distributing relief items. The money has also allegedly been used to record voice notes in local languages by the politicians.

Kadaga has come under attack by the public and was engaged in a social media altercation with government spokesman Ofwono Opondo over the matter.

She even went ahead to warn all MPs against speaking about the matter in the press for they don’t know how such things work and leave the talking to the parliamentarian commission.

Ugandans have also set up an online petition on change.org to compel the MPs to reject and return the money to be used by government to enhance the country’s ability to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

A few notable MPs have vowed to return the money once it is deposited on their accounts.
