The State Minister for Defense and Veteran Affairs, Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi, has passed on.
The deceased’s death was confirmed by her father, Philemon Mateke, who said she died of a heart attack while being taken to Mulago National Referral Hospital on Saturday.
Known for her previous role as the Minister of State for Gender, Labour, and Social Development, Mateke was on March 21, 2024, appointed in the Defense Ministry, a role she has not even spent a year with.
Mateke was also the Woman Member of Parliament for Kisoro Municipality.
