The Speaker of Parliament Anita Among urged local government leaders from Bukedea district to concentrate on service delivery as the only way to reward the locals they represent in different positions in local government.

While speaking to the local government leaders at a training organized for Bukedea leaders held at hotel Africana yesterday 24th January 2023, speaker Among stated that quality service delivery is key.

“Whether elected or appointed, irrespective of political affiliations, you have a common and shared goal of ensuring quality service delivery in the District of Bukedea. This should always be our preoccupation,” she said.

In the training which aimed at equipping leaders with superb skills in deliberating salient issues in the council, Among assured the leaders that Parliament is committed to delivering training for the local governments.

She revealed that the prime objective of the training is to maintain public support, retain power and enhance quality of services in Bukedea district.

“Each of you may be the vision bearers in your respective jurisdictions based on the promises that you made to the electorate, the effectiveness of your leadership is dependent on your knowledge and skills,” she said.

The speaker urged the local leaders to be so close to the subjects and involve the citizenry in all decision making processes mainly on the issues concerning their areas adding that it is the only way to foster peace and unity.

“You ought always to be conscious to voice and champion the needs of the voiceless and vulnerable within Bukedea. Parliament is aware that while you possess this wide constitutional mandate, you are constrained by inadequate resource envelopes,” she said.

Hon.Patrick Isiagi the MP Kachumbala County applauded the local government leaders for engaging in such resourceful meetings stating that the beneficiary of the meetings shall be the local people as they are the primary focus of all the government’s plans and budgets.
