Security Hunts for Assailants Behind Murder of Serere Woman

Police in Serere are investigating circumstances under which a 42-year-old female casual worker was killed by unknown assailants.

The deceased, identified as Mary Akello, a resident of Odungura Egadu village in Olio Sub County in Serere district, was found dead in her house.

ASP Edison Obukulem, the acting East Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, said no arrest has been made.

Obukulem suspects that the deceased was last seen on August 5, 2024, in the evening.

Police have registered a murder case under CRB 389/2024 at Serere Police Station.

Her body was discovered on the evening of August 6, 2024, by her neighbors, who had informed the area local council officials and it has been conveyed to Serere Health Centre IV for postmortem examinations.
