State House Anti-Corruption Unit apprehends city council officials for corruption

The State House Anti-Corruption Unit together with security organizations have arrested at least six Mbale City Council officials on numerous corruption allegations.

The Legal personnel at the State House Anti-Corruption Unit, Lt. Daniel Mayombo explained that the arrests followed commencement of various investigations by the unit in Mbale City.

He identified the suspects as Speaker Myriam Nambuya and Clerk to Council, Annet Wawule, the senior human resource officer, Abdul Kigenyi who costed government about Shs100 million in lost wages to ghost workers, the assistant accountant, Emmanuel Gidudu, the principal health inspector, Wandera Charles that stole money from the medical examination costs and the former town clerk of northern division, Martin Busiku who embezzled over Shs150 million.
