William Samoei Ruto has been sworn in as the 5th President of Kenya.
He was sworn in during an inaugural ceremony held at Kasarani stadium in Nairobi on Tuesday, afternoon.
Several African Presidents including; H.E President Yoweri Museveni, Paul Kagame of Rwanda, Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, and H.E Abiy Ahmed, Ethiopian Prime Minister among others attended the ceremony.
Aliko Dangote, the Nigerian billionaire business magnate and Africa’s richest man also attended the event.
“I, William Samoei Ruto, swear that I will truly and diligently serve the people and the republic of Kenya in the office of president of the republic of Kenya, that I will diligently discharge my duties and perform my function in the office of the presidency in the republic of Kenyan and I will do justice to all in accordance to this constitution as by the law established and the law of Kenya without fear, favor, affection or ill will”, Ruto’s oath of the due execution of the office of the President.
Ruto’s swearing-in ceremony was presided over by Kenya’s Chief Justice Hon. Justice Martha Koome.
The outgoing President,Uhuru Kenyatta congratulated and advised Ruto to serve all Kenyans regardless of who supported him.
“You will be President not just for those who voted for you but for all Kenyans,” Kenyatta said.
It should be noted that Ruto won the August 9th Presidential elections beating his closest rival Raila Odinga with 7,176,141 votes, 50.49% to become the newly elected President of Kenya.
