Rukungiri businessman shot dead

The Police in Rukungiri District are hunting for assailants who waylaid a businessman and shot him saturday morning.

Kigezi Regional Police Spokesman Elly Maate confirmed that the late Godi Ainebushobozi also known as Godfrey Aine Kyamugundu a resident of Kalisizo in Buhunga sub county , Rukungiri District was shot dead at Kyemengo in Buhunga sub county in the wee hours of Dec 8th 2018 as he returned home from Rukungiri Town.

Maate said that the deceased was a passenger on motorcycle Registration No UES 408F where his fellow passenger only identified as Saddam, and the rider survived unhurt.

“We have instituted investigations into this murder since the assailants were armed, we must recover this killer gun” Maate said.

The late Godfrey Aine in his good times before he was shit dead saturday morning.

He said that the Boda Boda rider Mugumya Jude who reported the matter to the Police was detained to help the Police with investigations . Maate however said the motive of killing Aine has not been established.

He said that the deceased was last seen at Thunderous a popular night club in Rukungiri the night he was killed.

But some residents of Rukungiri who asked not to be named confided to our reporter that the motive could be related to coffee business wrangles.

Rukungiri District Police Commander , Moses Nanoka told media recently that the Police suspects that there are 3 guns in wrong arms in the district and the Police were hunting for them.

The case has been registered at Rukungiri Police Station under Reference Number CRB 1300/ 2018 to help in further inquiries while the body of Aine was first taken to Rwakabengo Health Center IV for a postmortem report to be carried out before it was handed over to relatives for burial.
