The Uganda traffic police department has classified reckless driving as the leading cause of motor accidents along major highways in the country.
Top on the list of highways often recording motor accidents emanating from reckless driving include Kampala-Masaka, the Entebbe Expressway and Northern Bypass.
ASP Faridah Nampiima, the traffic police spokesperson says reckless driving including over speeding, driving with a willful or wanton disregard for safety, or showing willful disregard of consequences when operating a vehicle by most drivers are key causes of these accidents.
