Raila Odinga, the Azimio la Umoja coalition leader has snubbed the inauguration ceremony of William Ruto as the 5th Kenyan President.
On Monday, Raila announced that despite being formally invited by H.E Dr. William Ruto for the ceremony, he has opted to stay away.
In his submission, Raila the former Presidential contender in the August 9th Presidential elections, said he cannot attend Ruto’s swearing-in ceremony because he believes the results announced by the IEBC were not free and fair.
Odinga who is out of the Country further claimed that the Supreme Court ruling was also not based on facts and did not follow the Law.
He says that together with other Azimio la Umoja coalition party leaders opted to respect the decision of Court.
He however said that together with coalition leaders would soon announce the next steps to strengthen democracy in Kenya.
“We can only do so if we reform and transform the key institutions that are charged with protecting and advancing our democracy,” Mr. Odinga said.
The inauguration ceremony is being held at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi.
