President Putin Applauds Museveni for Transforming Uganda in a Heartwarming Birthday Message

Russian President Vladimir Putin has hailed President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for transforming Uganda into an influential country not only on the African continent but globally.

In his congratulatory message sent to Museveni as he clocked 80 on September 15, 2024, Putin underscored Uganda’s achievements under President Museveni’s leadership, which include socioeconomic transformation and making a mark in global politics.

“You rightfully enjoy well-deserved high authority on the African continent. Under Your leadership, Uganda has scored success in socio-economic spheres and strengthened its positions in the international arena,” Putin’s message reads in parts.

The Russian President also commended Uganda-Russia bilateral relations, which have also been enhanced by President Museveni.

“In Russia, we highly value your consistent contribution to enhancing the relations of friendship and cooperation between our two countries. I wish you good health, well-being, and success in all your state endeavors,” Putin noted.

Russia established diplomatic relations with Uganda on October 11–12, 1962; however, most active bilateral relations began to develop in the early 2000s. The two countries have often supported each other on many international issues of mutual concern. Uganda has always looked at Russia as a partner in scientific and technological cooperation, as Russia is very advanced in these areas.
