The President of Uganda, YK Museveni, is set to address the 11th Parliament next week. The Speaker of Parliament, Anita Annet Among, informed the House that President Museveni’s address is scheduled for 16th March 2023.

In her communication during the plenary sitting on Thursday, 09 March 2023, Among said that the president will address the House on matters of national importance.

“I take this opportunity to notify you that His Excellency the President will address Parliament on matters of national importance on 16th March 2023 pursuant to Article 101 (2) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda 1995,” she communicated.

The Speaker urged Members of Parliament to be in attendance to hear what the President will say about what they can do to change the economy and society.

Article 101 (2) states that the President may, also, in consultation with the Speaker, address Parliament from time to time, on any matter of national importance.

Other than the annual State of the Nation addresses, President Museveni’s last special address to Parliament was on June 20, 2018, and it was about the State of security in the country.
