The President of the Republic of Uganda and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces President Yoweri Museveni, has announced a series of appointments and promotions within the Uganda Police Force in the efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the Uganda Police Force in serving citizens and maintaining law and order in the country.
In a press statement issued by the Uganda Police Force Headquarters in Naguru by police spokesperson Rusoke Kituuma on Monday, 2, 2024, he outlined the following changes.
“SCP James Apora, who formerly worked as the assistant director of logistics and engineering, has been appointed as the new assistant inspector general of police (AIGP) and director of logistics & engineering,” the statement read in part.
The statement further highlighted that SCP Lawrence Niwabiine, Director Traffic Road and Safety, has been appointed as the new AIGP and Director of Traffic & Road Safety.
ACP Kituuma noted that Joseph Obwona, formerly working as the acting director of Interpol and International Relations, has been appointed as the new AIGP and director of Interpol & International Relations.
The president has also appointed Stephen Tanui as the new AIGP and Director of Fire & Rescue Services after he was dropped from the position of Kampala Metropolitan Police commander and sent to the fire and rescue directorate as the deputy director.
Additionally, SCP Musana John Geoffrey, formerly the Deputy Director in charge of Construction Estates, has been appointed as the new AIGP and Deputy Director of Logistics & Engineering.
ACP Kituuma, on behalf of the Uganda Police Force, has extended its congratulations to the officers upon their appointments and promotions, recognizing their contributions and expertise.
This strategic restructuring within the police leadership is expected to strengthen the force’s capabilities in key areas such as logistics, engineering, traffic management, international cooperation, and emergency response services.
