President Asks Medics To Adopt Preventive Methods In Health Care

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has emphasised the need to use the prevention concept in the health sector to ensure that 75 percent of diseases in Uganda are prevented.

“Once you adopt this prevention method, most of the diseases can be avoided. For example, if you sensitise the communities where you will be deployed on how to use the latrines, sleep under treated mosquito nets, and use clean water,” President Museveni said.

The president made the remarks yesterday, January 20, 2023, at Kololo ceremonial grounds while officiating and hosting a luncheon meeting for a team of medical doctors and engineers who were sponsored by State House to study at the university.

According to the president, the prevention health strategy will help the country save the resources that would have been spent on the treatment process as well as keep a healthy and productive population.

He also emphasised the government’s commitment to improving the welfare and working conditions of scientists, especially doctors.

However, President challenged the scientists to not only concentrate on their professions but also help the communities where they come from develop and fight poverty by sensitising them to embrace government programs like the Parish Development Model, Emyooga, and the 4-acre model system.
