Police Warn Entertainment Venues of Potential Terror Threats Ahead of Premier League

SCP Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, has warned owners of entertainment centres to be vigilant and on the lookout for possible terror threats ahead of the English Premier League, scheduled to start on August 11, 2023.

According to a press release issued on August 9, 2023, the territorial commanders were tasked with working closely with the owners of social entertainment places like hotels, nightclubs, and bars as a way of improving security among football fans.

SCP Fred Enanga, Uganda Police Force Spokesperson.

“While there is no specific direct threat towards the screening of matches under the English premiership, we want to caution all the owners and managers of all hangouts to be mindful of the existing threats of terrorism,’’ Enanga said.

Enanga stated that all venue operators must ensure appropriate staffing, avoid excessive drinking, have a limited number of entrance points, enough controlled smoking places, and that CCTV is completely installed and operational.

He also recommended that entertainment venue operators assist clients in safely departing the venues after a late game and to have emergency evacuation plans in place.

The police remind the public to remain vigilant at all times and promptly report any suspicious activities to the police.
