Police in Wakiso district are investigating circumstances under which unknown assailants set a house on fire belonging to one of the residents of Nasana Ganda.
According to reports, the home was set on fire two months ago by unknown criminals. Bugembe Godfrey, 37, the owner, was not at home during the attacks, but his wife (not identified) was, and she was attacked with a panga. Fortunately, the Ganda residents rescued her, resulting in the death of one of her assailants. The attack is believed to be revenge since they blame her for their friend’s death.
Muyimbwa Christopher, the Head of Security in Nasana Ganda in Kyebando, Waksio district, said the assailants came at around 3:00 am with jerricans of petrol, poured it around the house, and then set it on fire. The occupants of the house were inside but were rescued by the residents.
’’These thieves attacked this house two months ago, and when the lady was found in the house, she was attacked, but one of them was killed by residents, and now they had come back to avenge their friend’s death by setting fire to the same resident’s house, but fortunately they were rescued by residents who were awake by that time, despite half of the house being damaged,’’ Muyimbwa revealed.
He added that the residents did their best and saved the occupants of the house, but unfortunately, the thugs escaped and left behind jerricans of gasoline they had brought with them.
Muyimbwa has called upon the police to thoroughly investigate this incident and arrest the culprits because the residents are scared for their lives, stating that if they come back when again, they will surely carry out their mission and kill the members of the attacked household.
