Police Officer Found Dead at Fort Portal Police Station

ASP Enock Tumwesige, the City Community Liaison (CCL) officer was on Thursday 18th August found dead in the station’s pit latrine.

The officer was recently promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police and was attached to Fort Portal Central Police station.

According to Vincent Twesigye the Rwenzori Regional spokesperson, the officer reported to office in the morning and later at around noon his body was found lifeless at the station’s pit latrine.

“Officer Tumwesige came in to work early morning but we discovered him in the toilet at around noon and unfortunately he was dead,” Twesigye said.

Twesigye also stated that the proper authorities were contacted and the crime scene was cordoned off.

“A team of scene of crime officers and homicide departments have documented the scene of crime,’’ he said.

His colleagues described 58year old Tumwesige as a hardworking and diligent police officer.  

The body of the deceased has been taken to Mulago referral hospital for postmortem.
