Pirates Set to Host Final Game of National Rugby 7s Series

The Uganda Rugby Union has confirmed defending champions Pirates RFC will host the final leg of the National Ruby 7s series.

According to the Uganda Rugby Union, the series is set to commence from August 10–11, 2024, with the Entebbe 7s hosted by the Mongers and will end in October with the Rujumba 7s at the Pirates home ground.

The final leg will be named Rujumba 7s in remembrance of their fallen heroes, including Henry Rujumba, who was an influential club member since 1998 before passing away in 2015.

According to the Uganda Rugby Union, the 2024 game series will feature 16 teams per circuit, comprising 12 core teams and four invitational teams selected by the Uganda Rugby Union.

The teams include the Pirates (2023 winners), Heathens (2023 runners-up), Kobs, Hippos, Buffaloes, Impis, Mongers, Warriors, Rhinos, Rams, Walukuba, and Elgon Wolves.

The women’s series will feature eight teams per circuit, consisting of six core teams and two invitational teams, which include the Black Panthers (2023 Winners), Avengers (2023 Runners Up), Thunderbirds, Nile Rapids, She-Wolves, and Kitgum Queens.

Entebbe 7s (10–11 August) hosted by Mongers at Works Grounds

Mbale 7s (17-18 August) hosted by Mbale Elephants at Mbale Grounds

Kyadondo 7s (August 24–25), hosted by Thunderbirds at Kyadondo

Gulu 7s (7-8 September) hosted by the Gulu City Falcons at Pece Stadium, Gulu

Kyabazinga 7s (September 14–15) was hosted by the Walukuba Barbarians at Bugembe Stadium, Jinja.

Mbarara 7s (28–29 September), hosted by the Mustangs at Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara

Rujumba 7s (5-6 October) hosted by Pirates at Kings Park, Bweyogerere
