Plans by a section of People power members to disorganize NRM primary elections have licked.

Sections of people power members last night held meetings in areas of Nakulabye, Makindye, Natete, and Kamwokya where the main agenda was to weaken NRM candidates by disorganizing the primary elections.

According to Ssemboga (second name withheld) the People Power command centre in Kamwokya held a meeting with assaulting plans to disrupt smooth election during the NRM primaries.  “We held a meeting in Kamwokya and we were later dispatched to areas of Makindye, Natete and Nakulabye to address sections of our ‘ground soldiers,’ Ssemboga said.

Ssemboga also said that as a strategy they plan to disguise as NRM and join the voting process to cause chaos in three major ways which include demonstrations against the strong NRM candidates, causing unrest, and forcefully voting.

“Some of us are in NRM registers, we are going to vote for the weak candidates so that our people power candidates can later defeat them in the general elections,” he said.

Attempts to get a comment on these plans and allegations from Joel Ssenyonyi the Spokes person of people power were futile however a source from Kamwokya who preferred anonymity said that the plan is to take power by exploiting all possible means.

The plans to cause violence in NRM primary elections follow recent precedents of violence during the National Village youth elections which were marred by fights especially in areas with People power supporters. However, the results by percentage national-wide were dominated by NRM youth with 79 %.
