PDM: Minister Amongi asks Lango to embrace NRM strategies against poverty

The Minister of Gender, labor and social development, Betty Amongi Akena has asked people of Lango to embrace and stick to NRM strategies to liberate themselves from the bondage of poverty.

Minister Amongi is currently traversing Lango sub region mobilizing local residents to embrace and fully participate in the government program of Parish Development Model.

She was on Tuesday addressing residents, local leaders and civil servants of Apac district on the Parish Development Program.

According to Minister Amongi, the NRM strategy of the four acre farming practice which president Museveni has been popularizing and promoting is the only way to eradicate poverty among Ugandans.

“The four-acre model is ideal for commercial agriculture and I implore citizens to implement it. But even as we do this, please desist from land fragmentation because small land holdings are not commercially viable,” President Museveni said recently.

The Minister also warned local leaders and civil servants tasked with the roles to implement the program to desist from political segregation saying poverty respects no political boundary.

“PDM is a government program for everyone, we must use it to combat poverty among ourselves, government is committed to support our people achieve wealth. President Museveni is directly supervise this program, “Minister Amongi told residents.

Government is set to rollout PDM activities in the coming financial year of 2022/2023 starting July, 2022 and currently all Ministers and Members of parliament are in the country side to mobilize for the program.
