The police in Apac District have in custody, Monica Atim the District Statistician for allegedly swindling over Ugx21.8m, money meant for Parish Development Model (PDM) activities.
Abdul George, the Apac Resident District Commissioner (RDC) confirmed her arrest.
He says Atim is being detained at Apac Central Police Station over alleged misuse of money meant to facilitate data collection exercise.
According to Abdul, her arrest followed complaints from data collection officers who claimed they had not been paid.
“l have handed Monica Atim to Apac police after complaints from the data collection officers that they had not been paid much as the money was released to her in June this year,” He said.
Police detectives have since embarked on investigations to ascertain circumstances under which Atim swindled the money and establish concrete evidence to back her prosecution.
Apac is the latest district on spotlight over the alleged mismanagement of PDM funds.
Kitgum, Nwoya, Kabale ,Ngora among others were the first to record huge embezzlement of PDM funds.
