The Africa Kin Education Resource Centre (AKERC) is set to host the African Youth Congress on September 10, 2024, at the Commonwealth Resort Hotel, Munyonyo, in Kampala.

This significant event will attract young Pan-Africanists, elders, policymakers, and cultural leaders to discuss the modernization of Africa through cultural preservation.

The Congress aims to reinforce Africa’s cultural identity, which has long been the backbone of its development.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to be the chief guest alongside Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President of Nigeria, and Rt. Hon. Aziz Akhannouch, Prime Minister of Morocco, where they will discuss Africanism and modernize alongside culture.

“The recent legislative efforts, such as Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Act of 2023, reflect a commitment to safeguarding traditional values against perceived threats from foreign ideologies,” AKERC said.

Africa is increasingly recognized as a new frontier for economic growth, yet challenges such as poverty, instability, and leadership issues hinder its potential.

Historically, the continent has lacked a “Centre of Gravity” for its civilization, leading to the repercussions of slave trade, colonialism, and ongoing cultural supremacy.

They will further tackle promoting pan-Africanism among youth by identifying modern strategies for a prosperous Africa. Through mobilizing young Africans to embrace their cultural roots and strengthening political and economic integration across the continent.

“The event is expected to attract delegates from all 55 African countries and the African Diaspora, including leaders from the African Union, EAC, SADC, and ECOWAS.” AKERC shared.

The African Youth Congress 2024 promises to be a pivotal platform for dialogue, collaboration, and action towards a modern, culturally grounded Africa, with Africa’s population projected to exceed 2.5 billion by 2050.
